It's Meeting Time!

Gluten-Free Wikaduke will again meet this Saturday, February 2nd from 10AM until 12Noon at Edward Plainfield Outpatient Center located on the northwest corner of 127th Street and Van Dyke Road in Plainfield.

It's been a long time since we last gathered so we'll spend some time catching up, answering questions, etc. In addition, Mary will share a report on gluten-free dog food. There was some interest in having a home baked sandwich bread tasting. If you're interested in contributing a loaf of safely home baked bread or your favorite sandwich bread recipe, please see the blog entry specifically related to that. No Gluten-Free Wikaduke meeting would be complete without a raffle!

Looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early on Saturday!

Sandwich Bread Tasting

There's been some discussion about which home baked gluten-free sandwich bread reigns supreme. So, we've decided to have a gluten-free sandwich bread tasting at Saturday's meeting. cIf you would like to contribute a loaf of home baked bread that has been prepared in a safe environment, please leave a message in the comments section.

If you don't want to bring bread but have a recipe you would like to share please email it to us so we can include it on the handout.

Need Frozen GF Dinners?

The Tinley Park location of Do-It-Yourself Dinners is hosting its next gluten-free meal preparation day later this week.

According to their website, the following gluten-free entrees will likely be available:
Pesto Italian Chicken Pasta
Back by popular demand. Chicken tossed with homemade pesto, caramelized onions and tomatoes over gluten free pasta. You can toss in a few artichokes too.

Star of Texas Sirloin
A customer favorite! Mouth-watering sirloin topped with special blend of barbecue glazed and topped herb crust.

Chicken Cheddar Casserole
Number one seller! Boneless skinless chicken breasts topped with cheese, mushrooms in honey mustard sauce.

Barbecue Chicken Pizza
10-inch gluten-free crust topped with diced chicken and vegetables with a tangy BBQ sauce make this a very exciting pizza.

Popeye's Stuffed Chicken Breasts
A blend of spinach, bacon and onions rolled in a boneless skinless chicken breast topped with a tangy BBQ sauce.

Santa Fe Meatloaf
A little different than your ever day meatloaf. A perfect blend of southwestern spices topped with salsa.

Hoppin' Johns's Stuffed Pork Roast
It is considered good luck to eat black eyed peas on New Years Eve. This incredible stuffing will make a believer out of you. Rice, peppers, green onions & black eyed peas all stuffed in a tender pork roast. A fantastic combination. If you would prefer chops instead of the roast we will be happy accommodate you.

Homemade Pulled Pork
Our award winning pork is outstanding. Tender shredded pork smothered in a tangy homemade BBQ sauce. Great served over rice too!

Restaurant Raves!

Everyone has to decide for themselves whether or not dining out is worth the risk. Having said that, below you'll find a couple of raves from Lana and Wendy.

From Lana:
Just an FYI Aurellio's in Minooka carries gluten-free pizza. If you order sausage on it, however, ask them to cook sausage first then put it on pizza otherwise you will get a very burnt crust or raw sausage! Otherwise, it was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Wendy:
OMG we went to Da Lucianos today! OMG! It was great. David ate something fried first time in almost a year. The calamari was great! He had the cannoli..WOW! They also sell their foods frozen too! Did you know that? Our food was 40.00 but we ordered 70.00 worth of freezer foods to take home. We will let you know how the bread was and the CREAM PUFFS! Ohhhh he was in heaven!
