Hot Brown Rice Bowl

Hot Brown Rice Bowl
1 cup short-grain brown rice (I used long)
6 cups water (divided)

Toppings (Optional)
Savory
GF Soy Sauce, Sesame Oil, Sesame Seeds, Scallions, peanut butter
Sweet
Nuts, Maple Syrup

Combine the rice with 5 cups of water in a large saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce to heat to low, cover and cook for 1.5 hours.

Uncover. If the rice doesn't appear to look thinner than oatmeal cook for another 15 to 30 minutes. If it seems too dry add remaining water and cook for 15 to 30 minutes (on low or medium-low heat) to achieve a oatmeal-like consistency.

To serve, top with toppings of your choice.
